How to Use Hair Keratin Keratin treatment is one of the most popular methods for straightening and adding shine to hair. This method repairs damaged layers of the hair, giving it natural softness and radiance. To achieve the best results, it’s important to follow these steps:
1. Hair Wash First, wash the hair with a special clarifying shampoo to remove any dirt, oil, and product buildup. This allows the keratin to penetrate the hair shaft more effectively.
2. Initial Drying After washing, blow-dry the hair until it is about 80% dry. At this stage, the hair should remain slightly damp.
3. Sectioning the Hair Divide the hair into small sections to ensure the keratin product is applied evenly throughout.
4. Applying the Keratin Product Using a brush, apply the keratin treatment to each section of the hair, combing it through to distribute evenly. Leave the product on the hair for about 20 to 30 minutes.
5. Flat Ironing Once the product has been absorbed, flat iron each section of hair at a high temperature (around 230–250°C / 450°F). This step is crucial because the heat locks the keratin into the hair.
6. Rinsing and Final Blow-Dry Depending on the type of product used, you may need to rinse or simply lightly wash the hair. Finally, blow-dry the hair, leaving it smooth, shiny, and silky.
